Meet handsome Rock – a year old male now neutered, mini male. This boy is happy and loves to zoom so we are throwing the puppy chow at him. He is about 12 pounds now and should have a couple more pounds to be a small-framed, Tweenie-sized boy because he'll be all muscle when he is done growing. He was way too thin when he arrived, but now that he is fixed and we upped his food intake considerably, he is gaining weight nicely. He plays a lot with our dogs here.
Want a happy dog with a cool color? Then Rock is your boy. He is a blue merle dapple and looks very dark. Quite a photogenic little charmer, too. And he does have one blue eye and one brown eye.
His mom turned him into rescue because they were moving out of state, not because there was anything wrong with this very handsome guy. He is a mellow lap dog but also a zooming play puppy when it is play time. Rock gets along with all our other dogs, watches the cats too closely (which is typical of most in this breed) and adores his belly rubs. Quite the cuddly boy!
Rock is a bit shy when first meeting people, so he will need someone with a bit of patience while he is growing up. Once he knows folks, then he warms right up. He will need someone to work with for a few months so he will settle into his new life. He acts like a past abuse case and he took a bit of time to trust us and our company, but now he is calm, charming and quite the toy chaser and playful doggie.
Rock will need a buddy to play with in his new life. We will not adopt him alone to spend all day being bored again. If you do not have a play dog friend for Rock already, then you might also consider adopting our other rescue, Buddy (see above). Rock and Buddy are now best of friends and they could find a home together because they like each other so much.
We are working on making sure Rock is housebroke before he is placed, but because of his age he will need someone who will continue his house training once he leaves here.
Rock will need a fenced yard so he can run until he has some brains; THEN we train him. This dog is too active to be on a tether or in an apartment, as are all dachshund pups this age.
There is an adoption fee of $225 for Rock. No phone calls or emails, please. Please see our web site for details and to complete the application form for adoption.
