The 20th Annual Riverfront Park Indian Encampment & Pow Wow Begins Friday
Spokane, WA - 08/18/09 - The Spokane Falls Northwest Indian Encampment & Pow Wow brings to life significant cultural celebration as dancers, their families and the public convene August 28th and 29th in the Lilac Bowl in Riverfront Park.
By tradition, pow wows are a time for gathering and a time for celebration. Pow wows are a significant source of cultural heritage for everyone who lives in the Inland Northwest, not just the tribes. The Riverfront Park Pow Wow, now in its 20th year, offers a variety of activities for celebration including dancing, cultural activities for children, and a marketplace.
Dance grand entries begin: Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Location: Riverfront Park Lilac Bowl
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. daily
Cost: Free for spectators
Details: Competitive dancing with beautiful native singing along with arts, crafts and food booths
