Will my ROM become obsolete?
In Addition
What should I look for in ROM when buying hardware?

The good news is that you don't have to worry too much about ROM. That's because all computer manufacturers use basically the same kind of ROM chips.

Do be aware that the use of Flash ROM for basic input/output system (BIOS) tasks has become widespread in the industry. Flash ROM chips ensure that a computer's BIOS is upgradable. Even if you never need or want to take advantage of this feature, understand that the absence of Flash ROM BIOS means the product is probably outdated.
